The New Site Design Is Live!

Well folks here it is, the new site. I hope you like it.

It’s taken me all night to get it up and running but here it is and it’s looking good (although Tony doesn’t agree).

There are still a number of bugs and glitches to work out (mainly around the formatting of the site, blast you CSS) but I don’t think that’ll take me too long to work. Not tonight though.

I don’t want to do this again for a long time!

So are you liking the new design?

Ah! It looks ok now! I just saw the interim version, which didn’t work properly.

Great stuff! Glad you like it, lots of neat stuff planned if I can get it to work.

How the fuck do tag clouds get generated for example?! See, ten years on and I still know fuck all about IT!

  3. 3 Tony

Tag clouds are hardly an IT staple, are they?

What I’d do (if my site ran off a database, but it doesn’t):

Search your database for all the tags you use on the posts.

Now either sort them, or randomise them.

Now churn them out in whatever order you decided on, but randomly change the font size for each one.

    Does that sound reasonable?

Ah, I see how they work…

Now change the bit of the post that says I don’t like the design.

I might steal bits of this.

Loving the new design and very Mac friendly but what about the iPod Touch…

  7. 7 Crackerwax

The iPod Touch? Is that anything like the common touch?

  8. 8 Tony

    Or touching cloth?

Tony, I have struck my comment from the record. Ah, the joy of <s>!

Good. I quite like the stellar thingummy at the top. That wasn’t loading before.

No on both counts gentlemen, a word I use loosely. However I can confirm the new design is Touch friendly too! But the world now awaits Emoarse. How much longer must we wait!
