Fucking Sony. Again 0

Jan23

It would appear that Sony in their infinite wisdom have managed to shut down Lik-Sang. These bastards are really starting to piss me off now.

As reported on Gizmodo and on Lik-Sang itself, they’ve managed to get a court order to stop them selling European customers Asian PSPs, in order, and I quote:

‘…to protect consumers from being sold hardware that does not conform to strict EU or UK consumer safety standards’.

Safety standards? What, like their laptop batteries?

It’s about time someone stood up to this company, it’s all a marketing exercise for them they haven’t innovated in years. And when they have innovated they’ve ruined it by canning the project before it really got interesting (Aibo), fucked it up by being overly proprietary (UMD Movies) or diluted it by pandering to the great unwashed (entire PlayStation line).

I understand that they want to protect their right to sell goods in territories at fixed prices (presumably to cover import and distribution costs) but, come on, is it really that terrible if a handful of people in Europe get the console early? If Sony deigned to do worldwide releases then this wouldn’t even have been a problem.

Sony are absolutely losing the plot, it’s really time something was done about them.
